Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has been reporting for over 45 years focused on people suffering from war zones and natural disasters. Curry reported on conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Curry was the child of a U.S. Navy sailor and an Japanese woman. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents met during her father's service in Japan. Curry graduated from the University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. Her path to an impressive career when she began her broadcasting career as an intern in KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon, eventually becoming the first woman news reporter at the station, at age of 22. Following that, she went on to become an anchor and reporter at KGW which is which is an NBC affiliate station in Portland. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became an anchor and reporter for KCBS TV within four years of making the move into the city. Two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for the KCBS-TV.
